What’s New: Paste from Excel

Posted by

If you’ve been working on your financial forecasts in Excel and are starting to use LivePlan, getting your data from Excel to LivePlan used to be a real hassle.

Not any more!

You can now paste data from Excel or Google Sheets directly into LivePlan. This is really handy if you already have a forecast in Excel and want to get up and running quickly in LivePlan.

Here’s a quick video to show you how it works:

copy paste forecast

You can even copy multiple rows of Excel data into LivePlan if you are creating a forecast that has multiple months of forecast detail. LivePlan filters out the currency symbol and any other formatting but keeps any negative signs or decimals.

I hope you find this new feature useful! As always, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.

How about exporting from Liveplan back to Excel. Can I do that?

    • Jonathan_Bplans

      Hi Dan,
Exporting from LivePlan to Excel is not an available feature at the moment. We appreciate your feedback about the tool though. Could you give some more detail about what you’re trying to accomplish in Excel that LivePlan currently isn’t able to provide?

      Thanks,

An export to excel will be very useful, most investors I talk to want you to send your financial plan in excel rather than pdf.

Agreed. I’m discussing with investors at the moment and having to rebuild in Excel for live discussion purposes. This feature would be great.

This feature was great. Unfortunately it is broken with the new forecast design. Please put it back.

Thanks for the feedback, @joeldenton:disqus. The paste from excel feature is coming back and will go live in our next release, which should be happening within the next week or so.

Thanks for the feedback, @disqus_JTEg57CeTj:disqus – we’re always happy to hear about features you’d like to see added to LivePlan, and I’ll be sure to pass your note along to our product development team.

Is there something specific that you’re trying to accomplish with your financial forecasts in Excel that you aren’t able to do in LivePlan?
